Dr. Sudesna Roy

Associate Professor (II)

Dr. Sudesna Roy, an accomplished academic with over 15 years of post-Ph.D. experience, is currently associated with the School of Mechanical Engineering, KIIT Deemed to be University. She holds a Ph.D. from Northeastern University, Boston, and completed post-doctoral research at Boston University. Her academic background includes a B.Tech in Ceramic Engineering from NIT Rourkela and an M.Tech in Metallurgy from IIT Kharagpur. She received the DST Women Scientist Award (2015) and a DST-SERB research grant (2017), and presently leads the DST-FIST Level 1 project at KIIT. Dr. Roy has published widely in reputed journals and conferences. Her research interests include coatings, thin film deposition, cold and thermal spraying, optical materials, and alloy solidification modeling, with extensive expertise in magnetron sputtering and rare earth oxides.

RESEARCH INTERESTS

Her research interest is currently in the area of coatings, i.e thin film deposition, cold spraying and thermal spraying. She has worked extensively in the area of magnetron sputtering, transparent oxide ceramics, optical materials, rare earth oxides, thermal spraying and alloy solidification modeling.
