Dr.(Mrs.) Bijayalaxmi Rautaray, currently working as the Director, Library and Head, Department of Library and Information Science at KIIT University, Bhubaneswar, Odisha, India. She holds M.A (Economics), MLISc.,PGDLAN and Ph.D. in Library and Information Science. She has more than 26 years of experience in LIS profession. She has authored /edited ten books and one conference proceedings. She is also Editor in-chief of the Journal “KIIT Journal of Library and Information Management”. She has also published manyresearch articles in different International & National Journals, Conference Proceedings, and book chapters. She is also a reviewer of many international journals. Her areas of interest are Library Administration and Management, Development of Digital Libraries, Cooperative acquisition, Collection building of e-resources, Use of IT in Library services, Infometric Studies, Citation management, Information literacy, etc.

Administrative Responsibilities

i) Basic Duties-Planning, and Development of Libraries of the University and Department of Library and Information Science

ii) Content of Duties;

  • Planning and Development of Library, Library Administration & Management,Monthly Review Meetings of School Librarians, Coordination and conduct of  Library Outreach programes in all schools, Library Budgetary Planning, Arrangement of Book Exhibitions in Central and School Libraries,  Book Purchase for all schools– Text Book and Reference Book, Subscription of E-resources for all schools of University, Creation of awareness among user community & also organizing library staff training program, Analyzing and preparation of research productivity of our University, Upgradation of software used in library such as  DSpace (IR)/ KOHA LMS in cloud with RFID)/ Turnitin (Similarity Check software, etc.), Remote Access Facility, Bill processing – for Books, Print Journals & e-resources, Developing Inter- Library Relations among all other libraries in KIIT Group of Institutions, Library
    Committee – Arrangement for the meeting, Finalization of the Agenda, Preparation of minutes of the meeting, Vendor Empanelment for the supply of Reference Books, Bindery Works (Book and Print Journal) Management, Responsibility for publication of KIIT Journal of Library & Information Management (KJLIM), Organization of International Conference/Seminar/Workshop, Updation of Central Library website.
  • Planning for the Department of Library and Information Science, creation/reconstitution and approval of BOS from the competent authority, Preparation and approval of Syllabus of MLISc, Ph.D. from BOS and Academic Council, Identification of faculties for teaching in MLISc and Ph.D courses, Teaching of MLISc and Ph.D. courses, Supervising/guiding research scholars, Evaluation of answer sheets and theses, Mentoring to the students, day to day DLIS administration, Development and updation of DLIS website
