Chinmoy Kumar Panigrahi

Director

Prof. Chinmoy Kumar Panigrahi is currently the Professor and Director of the School of Electrical Engineering at KIIT DU. His research focuses on Soft Computing Techniques, Power Systems, Renewable Energy, Battery Management Systems, Deregulation, and Smart Grids. He has supervised 30 PhD scholars and 72 M.Tech scholars, with four ongoing PhD candidates under his joint guidance. Prof. Panigrahi has published 182 research articles in referred journals and presented 148 papers at reputed conferences. He previously served as Reader and HOD at BIT Mesra (2006–2009) and HOD at BIET Bhadrak (1991–2006). Over his 34-year academic career, he has received multiple accolades, including the Top 3 Ph.D. Supervisor at KIIT in 2022 and Outstanding Scientist Award (2020). He is a senior IEEE member and holds fellowships with various prestigious organizations.

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATION

B.Sc. (Engg.) from VSSUT, Burla, M.E. in Electrical Engineering with Specialization Power System Engineering, M.E. degree from VSSUT University, and a PhD in Engineering from Jadavpur University. PhD (Engg) from Jadavpur University

Outreach Activity

Dr. Chinmoy Kumar Panigrahi actively contributes to technical, social, and professional outreach by mentoring students and researchers, promoting engineering education through IEEE. Under the KIIT KARES Outreach Initiative, he led awareness programs in December 2025 at CBSE-affiliated schools including Swami Vivekananda Shikshashram and Maharishi Public School (Baripada), SBD International School (Bhadrak and Jajpur Road), D.A.V. Public School and Kendriya Vidyalaya (Paradip Port).
