Soumen Giri

Assistant Professor

 

Dr. Soumen Giri is an Assistant Professor (Grade II) at KIIT Deemed to be University, Bhubaneswar, Odisha. He obtained his Ph.D. from the prestigious Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kharagpur in 2014. Following his doctoral studies, Dr. Giri conducted postdoctoral research at the Okinawa Institute of Science and Technology, Japan, from 2015 to 2017. Dr. Giri has a strong publication record, with over 32 peer-reviewed journal articles and a book chapter to his credit. He has published several high impact factor journals such as Advanced Functional Materials (IF:19.2), Journal of Materials Chemistry A (10.7), ACS Sustainable Chemistry and Engineering (IF: 7.1), Nanoscale (IF: 5.8) etc. He also secured starting research grant (SRG) of 29.3 Lakhs from SERB, Govt. of India. His research spans several cutting-edge areas in energy storage and synthesis technologies, including:

Micro-Batteries: Development of micro-batteries for portable electronic applications. Supercapacitors: Fabrication of supercapacitors and their applications in high-altitude regions. Electrode Materials: Discovery of novel electrode materials for advanced energy storage technologies. Electro-Organic Synthesis: Innovations in electro-organic synthesis for applications in pharmaceuticals and energy storage. Dr. Giri’s contributions to science and technology have been recognized internationally, with his recent selection as a Brain-Pool Fellow by the Government of Korea for 2024, an honor that underscores his impact in the field of advanced materials and energy technologies.
