Dr. Umakanta Meher
Assistant Professor-I
Dr. Umakanta Meher earned his Ph.D. in Aerospace Engineering with a specialization in structures from IIT Kharagpur in 2024. His doctoral work focused on impedance-based structural health monitoring, particularly electromechanical impedance (EMI) methods for early damage detection in engineering structures, aiming to improve safety and durability through real-time monitoring. He also holds an M.Tech in Aerospace Engineering (Structures) from IIT Kharagpur (2016). His research interests include structural health monitoring, smart materials, PZT materials, and composite structures. Currently, he serves as an Assistant Professor in the School of Mechanical Engineering (Aerospace Engineering specialization) at KIIT Deemed to be University, Bhubaneswar. He teaches courses such as fluid mechanics, aerodynamics, space mechanics, propulsion, and aircraft structures, integrating innovative research with impactful teaching in aerospace engineering.
